$10M Grant for All Electric Delivery Trucks In MO
on August 6th, 2009 at 4:06 amI suppose I should be grateful to see the DOE dole out 10 million dollars to Smith Electric Vehicles U.S. Corp. to build a new truck manufacturing plant in Kansas City, but my blood pressure is still rising. GM received billions and the Chevy Volt is still not in production. Smith Electric on the other hand is very likely going to take this Department of Energy grant and effectively.

Coca-Cola and other large companies are already using Smith’s all elictric delivery vehicles, however they’re currently built in Europe. It’s very likely this investment will pay off for the local economy, I just wish I could say the same for the rest of the Recovery funds.

You know, now that you have brought this up… what do you think Smith & Co. could have done with 65 BILLION dollars of research and tooling money? Completely revolutionized an industry? Changed the world a bit? I think so. What did GM do with it? Precisely.
This a sample of well balanced stragy and marketing of small company VS bureaucracy and clumsiness of giant. Just imagine how all the rest investments could efficiently work if they go to right direction… but I’m not sure this will happen in near times.
