I know it sounds silly that in 2010 a product as large as ethanol is just coming around to the idea of a marketing budget, but it’s better late than never. To be fair the ethanol industry in North Dakota has grown about ten fold over the last five years from 35 to 350 million gallons without it.
The North Dakota Ethanol Council is dedicating a small share of ethanol produced for research, education, promotion and development programs with a projected annual budget of about $100,000. This “check-off program” will hopefully make a significant dent in the Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) fear campaign to prevent the E.P.A. from raising the standard ethanol blend from 10 to 15 percent.
